Made For Mastery
Genesis 1:26-28
BY Wayne McDonald

Genesis 1:26-28, “God said, ‘Let us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in our image, after our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth.’”

“So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God created he him: male and female He created them. And God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all it’s vast resources in the service of God and man] and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.’”

You have been created for mastery. You have been given the authority of God to rule here on the earth. There is a cry in the heart of universal man for his dominion to be restored. One time I was drinking a glass of water and I spilled it, the next words out of my mouth were, “I know better than that.” God immediately spoke to my heart and said, “Why did you say you know better than that?” I answered, “I don’t know.” The Lord said, “The reason you said, ‘I know better than that,’ is because there was a point in time when I placed my man and my woman in the garden of Eden to have mastery.”

The Lord said, “Deep down on the inside of you, your spirit knows where it has come from. It knows that at one point in time the body and the mind were in total subjection to your spirit and there was no room for mistakes. Mistakes did not exist. When Adam was created, the first words he ever heard were, “You are blessed! Be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth, and subdue it.” Those words empowered him to have total mastery over his mind, body and over all the earth. There would never be a time in Adam’s life where he would spill something or trip or say something that was out of line with the love of God.

Think about the intellect that Adam and Eve possessed. They had a mind that was operating at one hundred percent. When they sinned, something happened in their spirit, mind, and body. Genesis 2:16-17, “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, ‘You may freely eat of every tree of the garden. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you will not eat of it: for in the day that you eat it you will die.’” They did not die physically at that time, but they did die spiritually. They lost God’s presence and they lost their dominion.

Today science has proven that even the most intelligent human beings are only using thirteen percent of their brain. It is safe to say that when we sin we loose our mind. Did you know that the root of schizophrenia is guilt, which is the fruit of sin? Sin will make your thinking unclear. Thank God for the blood of Jesus. I John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” If you have any sin in your life, right now is the time to get rid of it.

Say with me, “.Lord Jesus, I receive the cleansing power of your blood. Wash me, make me clean. I turn my back on all compromise and receive your forgiveness and I extend forgiveness to everyone that has treated me badly. I stand holy and blameless because of your blood, Jesus, Amen.”
