Go And Possess The Land

Go And Possess The Land
By Wayne McDonald

In Numbers chapter 13 Moses sent out spies to go view the land that God had promised to the children of Israel. The majority of those who went brought back and evil report. In verse 28 they said, “The people are strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great.” They just did not feel they could take the land.

However, verse 30 says, “And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.” Caleb knew what God promised and he was ready to go take it. We need to follow in his example.

Deuteronomy 28:1-8 says, “(1) And it shall come to pass, if you will hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord your God, to observe and to do all His commandments which I command you this day, that the Lord your God will set you on high above all nations of the earth: (2) And all these blessings shall come on you and, and overtake you, if you hearken unto the voice of the Lord your God.

(3) Blessed will you be in the city, and blessed will you be in the field. (4) Blessed shall be the fruit of your body (your children) and the fruit of your ground (your wages or finances), and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your offspring, and the flocks of your sheep. (5) Blessed shall be your basket and your store. (6) Blessed will you be when you come in, and blessed will you be when you go out.

(7) The Lord shall cause your enemies that rise up against you to be defeated before your face: they shall come out against you one way, and flee before you (run as in terror) seven ways. (8) The Lord shall command the blessing upon you in your store houses, and all that you set your hand unto; and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives to you.”

These are God’s promises to you and I. We cannot be moved by the evil report others may give us. We must go in and possess all that God has promised us. Matthew 11:12, “The kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” God promised that He would bless you in every area of your life, but it will not happen with out a fight. You must stand your ground and take what is rightfully yours.
