Colossians 2: 6-7
By Laura McDonald

Colossians 2:6-7, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

Do you remember when you first asked Jesus into your heart? Maybe you were a child, a teenager or maybe you did not really accept Him until you were an adult. Do you remember how you just believed the gospel and received Him into your life? It took a step of faith, but you did it. That is how God wants us to continue to live… by faith!

Receiving Jesus is one of the biggest faith tests there is, because we can’t see Him. We have to believe what the Bible says and do it in faith. Once we take that step that is how we have to live the rest of our lives. Hebrews 10:38 says, “The just shall live by faith.” Everything we do needs to be based on the word of God and we need to do it in faith.

God wants us to be, “Rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith.” The only way we can do that is by developing a relationship with Him and spending time in His word. If you look at your life and feel weak instead of strong, it is time to make a change. You need to get rooted.

You need to get strengthened. As you work through your New Year’s Resolutions make time to press into God. Make time to get into His word and spend time just fellowshipping with Him. As you do this year will be different from last year. The things that got to you last year won’t even make you flinch. So take that step today and seek the Lord. He is ready to meet you and do a work in your life!
