John 3:16, ”For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) son, so that whosoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.” Gods nature is to give. He made the greatest sacrifice when He gave us His son. He gave us His best.

After we receive Christ and become born again, God's nature becomes a part of ours. All of mankind has been created in the image of God. But until we receive God's Son we have a sinful selfish nature in us and it was all about us. Even after we receive Jesus we have to learn to live from that new nature and walk in the spirit.

We need to retrain ourselves to be givers.  God's nature (which is onthe inside of us when we receive Him) is to give. Jesus said in Luke 9:24, “Whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same will find it.” You will never see your full potential until you learn to lay your life down for others.

When you and I don’t live a giving life we become like a walking dead person. Revelation 3:1, “I know your record and what you are doing; you are supposed to be alive, but [in reality] you are dead.” Over in Israel the dead sea is dead because nothing flows out of it. Matthew 18:27, "Go down to the sea and throw in a hook. Take the first fish that comes up, and when you open it’s mouth you will find there a shekel. Take it and give it to them to pay the temple tax for me and for you." In this verse, Jesus told Peter to go fishing. In other words He was telling him to go extend yourself and you will find provision.

Go extend yourself in some way today by saying a kind word or holding the door for someone. Find some way of giving and be a blessing to someone. If you have extra money and you know someone is struggling help them out. Hebrews 13:16, "Do not forget or neglect to do kindness and good, to be generous and distribute and contribute to the needy [of the church and embodiment and proof of fellowship], for such sacrifices are pleasing to God."  Don’t be like the Church in the book of Revelation that was alive but in reality was dead. Live a giving life! If you’re not giving you’re not living!
