Rehearse Your Former Victories
Rehearse Your Former Victories

By Wayne McDonald

1Samuel 17:33-36, “And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go fight against this Philistine. You are only an adolescent, and he has been a warrior from his youth.” And David said to Saul, “Your servant kept his father’s sheep. And when there came a lion or again a bear and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and smote it and delivered the lamb out of it’s mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by the beard and smote it and killed it. Your servant killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God!’”

David was about to take on the biggest challenge of his life, the giant warrior Goliath. But before he did David began to rehearse his former victories. He declared that he had killed both the lion and the bear and that Goliath would be just like one of them.
When the enemy sends his big giant of sickness, disease and fear begin to rehearse your former victories. Don’t discouraged at a giant enemy. Just remember the bigger your enemy is the harder they fall, and all we see the victory of God!

Think about all the times in your past that you overcame impossible situations, by God’s grace and mercy. Think about how you overcame some bad habit or some type of  horrible addiction that was stealing your life and money.
God brought you through it then and He will bring you through now. The Church is filled with people that have overcome all kinds of impossible situations.

Today, look your giant right in the eyes and declare, “You are coming down! For you have defied the armies of the living God.” Don’t meditate on where you might have missed it in the past. Instead, repent quickly and move on. You are an overcomer of this world because you are born of God. Rehearse your former victories!
