Growing up Spiritually
Growing up Spiritually
By Wayne McDonald

Therefore let us go on and get past the elementary stage in the teachings and doctrine of Christ (the Messiah), advancing steadily toward the completeness and perfection that belong to spiritual maturity. It’s a good idea to take inventory of your life once in a while. Take a step back and take a good look at your life.

How much have you grown spiritually since you encountered Jesus Christ as your savior? Do you still deal with the same bad attitudes and habits? Do you still think the same and act the same? Here are some things that you can put into practice to help you grow up in the Lord.

(1) Feed your self. Set time aside everyday to read and study God’s word. You would never go with out natural food for a day so don’t go with out spiritual food. Learn what God is speaking to you through His word. If you can hear His voice when you are reading His word you will hear Him speak to your heart as you are going about your day.

Don’t just live by someone else’s revelation of who God is. Study and get revelation on your own. (2) Live by faith and not feeling. Our feelings and emotions are not trustworthy. They are up one day and down the next. Don’t make a decision based on feelings or impulse. When you live by faith you learn not to be moved by your feelings and the way things negatively appear.

(3) Find a good church. It is so important that we fellowship with other believers. It is crucial to our spiritual development. In the local Church you can learn to become a servant which Jesus said is the greatest in the Kingdom of God. You will also have some accountability on your life when you are involved in Church. That will help you stay on tract.

(4) Love people unconditionally. That is impossible on our own we must stay in contact with the living God who is love so that we have His love to give. This is the true gage of how much we have grown spiritually. Jesus said if you love the Lord with all your heart and love your neibor as yourself you fulfill every commandment in His word.
