David had integrity of heart (I Kings 9:4 But David did not always do the right thing (he sinned bad with Bath-Sheba. God was not happy about it however in 1Kings 9:4 God told Solomon to walk before him like his father David had walked in the integrity of heart. David did the wrong thing at times, but He stood out to God because had the right heart.

God is not after us doing everything perfect. There will be times we miss it… really bad. What God is after is our heart… He wants us to have a heart of Integrity… a heart after Him. Integrity is not always what we think it is.

A lot of times we think of integrity to mean: being on time, Being honest, paying our taxes, keeping our word. We need to look at integrity on a different level. Integrity is doing the right thing in the sight of the Lord from your heart. True integrity from your heart is not just doing the right things on the surface (showing up on time, etc…)

True integrity from the heart goes much deeper than that. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says The Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” God has a plan for each one of. He has a purpos and direction for Us to follow. We can’t just do what everyone else does.

True integrity of heart says, “God I know you have a plan for my life…. What is the right thing for me to do? What are the right choices and decisions for me to make? True integrity of the heart will cause you to surrender your will and what you want and it will cause you to ask God “What is your will for me in this situation?”

This is what separates “the men from the boys” It is easier to just do the right thing on the surface: work hard, Attend church, be nice to people. It is much harder to surrender your will and your whole heart to the Lord and say “Not my will Lord, but Your will be done.”
