Intergrity of The Heart
Integrity of The Heart
By Laura McDonald

I Kings 9:1-5 And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the Lord, and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do, That the Lord appeared to Solomon the second time, as He had appeared unto him at Gibeon.

And the Lord said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that you have made before me: I have hallowed (sanctified) this house, which you have built, to put My name there forever; and My eyes and My heart shall be there perpetually.

And if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my judgments: Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel forever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

Notice verse 4 “if you will walk before Me, as David your father walked, in  INTEGRITY OF HEART…” Definitions: Integrity -doing what is right in the sight of the Lord from your heart. It is one thing to do something right because you know it is right… it is an other thing to do what is right because it is in your heart to do it.

You can do the right thing with the wrong motive: - to show off, to gain acceptance, to get promoted. Example: you might be nice to someone just to get something from them. You might work hard at your job just so you can get a raise. You can do the right thing out of a love for God in your heart.

You are nice to someone not because you will get something out of them, but you are nice to them because you know that is what God wants you to do.Work hard at your job not just so you can get a raise but do it as unto the Lord from your heart.

When you do the right thing from your heart you do it even if there is no benefit for you. That is true integrity of the heart and the Lord will reward you mightily.
