Woman of Strength part two
Woman of Strength part two
By Laura McDonald

Today we are going to look at a story found in the Book of Ruth. We are going to look at a woman named Ruth who did not appear very strong on the outside. However, on the inside she was a true woman of strength and as a result God turned her life from tradgedy to triumph.

Ruth 1: 16-17 “ But Ruth said: Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.” (17) “ Where you die, I will die, and there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me.”

Why did Ruth stay with her mother-n-law? Because she was a woman of strength. On the outside Ruth did not have much to offer. She was From Moab (they had pagan gods)  and her husband had died. But Ruth found God (vs. 7 “Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.”)

Ruth did not want to go back to what was comfortable. Her people did not know God She choose God before anything else. This was a choice of inner strength. Ruth and Naomi went to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest. Ruth does not sit around feeling sorry for herself Ruth was a woman of strength.

Ruth went to work Ruth 2:2 “So Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, “Please let me go to the field, and glean heads of grain after him in whose sight I may find favor.” And she said to her, “Go my daughter.” She went out and gleaned after the reapers (basically she was getting the leftovers).

Ruth was a woman of strength she learned how to glean from her life experiences. She knew how reach into a bad situation and find the good. Note: The word crisis in Chinese means opportunity.

A crisis will always show us where we really are If we are just strong woman (no inner strength) we will fall apart If we are women of strength we will trust God in the midst of the crisis and “glean” (learn – gain experience) from the situation. Happy mothers day!
