The Five-Fold Ministry part four
The Five-Fold Ministry part four Tuesday April 21, 2009 By Laura McDonald Ephesians 4:11-12 And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers. Vs 12 His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of the ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church). Apostle: sent one to accomplish a mission. The apostle has the vision…the blueprints. Prophet: one called to speak. The prophet speaks God’s word and it manifests. God always speaks before He manifests. He has the prophet in office so that he can speak through him what He wants to manifest. This is how God created the earth…”let there be light and light was.” This is how God manifested Jesus in the earth. He had prophets speaking about the coming Messiah for years. The apostle has the blueprints; the prophet frames the walls. Evangelist: One who proclaims or preaches the good news. The evangelist goes into the highways and byways and compels the people to come. The apostle has the blueprints, the prophet frames the walls, and the evangelist gets the workers. Pastor: Shepherd, one who fathers the workers, and one who relates with them on a regular basis. The pastor is like the foreman who rallies the troops together to accomplish the vision of the apostle and complete the walls that the prophet has framed. Teacher: The teacher gives detailed instructions that will give the workers exactly what they need to finish the job.
